Tehran, March 6 (MRUD NEWS) – Construction of Rasht-Caspian Railway is ongoing since the completion of Qazvin-Rasht Railway and as part of Qazvin-Rasht-Caspian Railway Route.

Qazvin-Rasht Railway comprising of 5 segments were put into operation three years ago and soon after construction of Rasht-Caspian was prioritized which includes segments of 6, 7, and 8.

Qazvin-Rasht-Caspian Route which is 205 km long is part of International North–South Transport Corridor (INSTC) and links Southeast Asia and China to the Eurasia and Eastern Europe through the Persian Gulf.

Rasht-Caspian Railway shortens the time of freight transport route by 4 weeks, so the new railway corridor is very important for import/export and freight transit from northern region to the high seas.

For construction of 35-km long Rasht-Caspian Railway, 2.5 million cubic meters of embankment has been done and only 500,000 cubic meters has remained.
