Road freight transit to beat the record of 12 million tons in 2023

داریوش امانی It is expected that the volume of freight transit through Iran's territory will exceed 12 million tons in 2023 by next three months, which is considered a notable achievement in the performance of 13th Government, head of RMTO said.

Tehran, December 11 (MRUD NEWS)—Dariush Amani, Iran deputy transport minister and head of Iran Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO), pointing to the transit performance of Iran said that after 10 years the record of freight transit is beaten showing a 33 percent growths. This is achieved following the active diplomacy of the Ministry and transport negotiations with the regional countries.

In November, nearly 60,000 Iranian and foreign fleets transited over 1.4 million tons of freight transit from Iran's territory, which was the highest volume of monthly road transit from Iran in the past years and compared to the last November shows 92 percent growth.

It is expected that the record of freight transit will exceed 12 million tons by the next three months, and this is a new record in the current Government, Amani said.

Despite the renovation of nearly 26,000 trailers since the beginning of the 13th government, the average life of the trailer fleets has decreased to less than 5 years. Therefore, there is no serious problem in freight transport, and transit has a good prospect ahead, the Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development pointed out.

Further, Amani mentioned that with Iran's plan for development of sustainable sea-based economy, plans for development of Makran Coasts, and growth of industries in the ports, it is expected that the freight transport and transit will further grow.
