The first 3D ATC simulator installed at Zahedan International Airport

atc Tehran, 7 Dec (MRUD NEWS) – Sistan and Baluchistan Airports have developed a couple of important projects despite financial limitations and Covid-19 pandemic

The most important project is completing installation of a 3D air traffic control (ATC) simulator at Zahedan Airport as the first simulator in the airports of Iran. After designing and installing 3D simulator software, it will be ready for full operation in 4 months, according to the head of Sistan and Baluchistan Airports, Ali Jazinizadeh.

Also other projects include completion of constructing the new protective wall on the east and northeast sides of the new runway to remove the operational restrictions, installing a precision approach path indicator (PAPI) in runway 35 R, replacing cooling systems by installing two 200 ton air-cooled chiller systems, improving international terminal, correcting and improving the runway marking of 17 R and 35 L in accordance with the standards of the Civil Aviation Organization and ADR regulations, enforcing sanitary protocols and preventive hygiene measures for covid-19 including using thermometers and installing UVC lights for disinfection.

At Zabol Airport, the projects include installing a 160 ton air-cooled chiller system, installing runway 34 taxiway edge lights and threshold lights, planning for relocation of Zabol-Dust Mohammad Road due to the imposed restrictions for Zabol’s runway to remove restrictions for runway 34, and launching Zabol-Gorgan flights.

At Saravan Airport the DME/DME navigation systems is installed.

For Khash Airport the land acquisition with an area of about 181 hectares is finalized. The financial allocations for construction of protective wall and improvement of the runway are also underway.

In the last 8 months, there were 3,186 sorties at Zahedan Airport, 258 sorties at Zabol Airport, and 192 sorties at Iranshahr Airport which respectively shows 15.2, 33, and 84.6 percent increase compared to the last year.
