Tehran, Dec 13 (MRUD NEWS) – More than 4,935,935 tons freight have been transported in last 8 months through rail network of Shahid Rajaee Port by 88,298 wagons, the director-general of Hormozgan’s Port and Maritime Organization (PMO), Alireza Mohammadi-Karajiran, informed.

Also according to the PMO News Portal, the number of containers handled within the last 9 months in Shahid Rajaee port had been 1,143,426 TEU, which shows a 20% increase compared to the same period last year.

During this period, 293,771 TEU containers carrying export goods and 286,982 TEU containers of imported goods have been handled.

The director of Shahid Rajaei Special Economic Zone also emphasized that 181,445 TEU of foreign transit containers have been transported through this port, which shows a significant increase of 68% compared to the same period last year.

The performance shows a 49 percent increase compared to the last year.

Shahid Rajaee Port is located within International North-South Transport Corridor, thus it is one of the key and safe route for freight transit to the neighboring countries through rail network.
