Tehran, February 28, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, hosted Igor Levitin, the aide to the President of the Russian Federation, and his delegation in Tehran to discuss the promotion of transit along the INSCT and acceleration of Rasht-Astara Railway Project.

There were also two side meetings during the Russian delegation's visit to the Iran Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. Besides the meeting of deputy transport ministers, the Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction of the Ministry, Hadi Abbasi, met with his Russian counterpart to discuss cooperation in housing construction, building materials, and construction technologies through scientific cooperation of research centers and the private sectors.

Previously, during the visit of Iran's President and his delegation to Russia in December 2023, the President of Russian Railways informed of the transit growth between Iran and Russia by 30 percent while the freight transit time has decreased from 49 to 20 days from Russia to Bandar Abbas.

According to Miad Salehi, Deputy Minister and CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways, rail freight transit through Iran's territory lasts between 3 to 5 days from Sarakhs Border to Bandar Abbas.
