265,000 Passengers Transported on Hormozgan Island Routes during Wartime

char The Director of Ports and Maritime of Shahid Bahonar and East Hormozgan Province has announced the continuation of maritime services on routes connecting the provincial center to Hormuz and Qeshm islands during the special wartime conditions, stating that from the start of the imposed war on February 28, 2026, to June 15, 2026, a total of 265,459 passengers were transported on routes from Shahid Haqqani Port in Bandar Abbas to Shahide Fatemeh Nik Port on Hormuz Island and Shahid Zakeri Port on Qeshm Island.

Hamidreza Mohammadhosseini Takhti added that this passenger movement was carried out through 3,979 maritime services, and despite the special conditions caused by the war, passenger maritime transport services on these routes were not interrupted.

Expressing gratitude for the round-the-clock efforts of personnel across various organizational sectors, the private sector, and especially vessel crews and staff, he stated: "The continuation of services to the people and residents of Hormuz and Qeshm islands during that period was the result of the dedication, responsibility, and sacrifice of all those involved, who prioritized serving citizens despite existing risks and threats."

Referring to the noticeable decline in maritime travel during the war, the director said: "Naturally, passenger traffic in the center of Hormozgan province faced a significant decrease during those conditions, and there were numerous risks and dangers. However, with full compliance with security and safety considerations, maritime transport services continued."

Mohammadhosseini Takhti noted that in line with the special conditions of that period, new measures and requirements were implemented, including reduced service hours, revised travel schedules, and enforcement of specific safety and security protocols, to maintain the safety of passengers and vessels while ensuring uninterrupted maritime connectivity between the islands and the provincial center.
