Farzaneh Sadegh, speaking at the ceremony marking the start of operations to remove the Khaniyan wreck, highlighted Khorramshahr's special and historic place in Iran, saying that today the Iranian nation and every Iranian stands at the peak of dignity, authority, and pride.
Referring to recent developments and the positions of the US and Donald Trump, she added that they imagined they could disintegrate Iran, but today they have displayed their discredit and breach of promises on the global stage more than ever before.
Emphasizing the capacities and capabilities of the Iranian nation, the minister stated that the US must know that no siege or pressure can stop Iran, because Iran and Iranians will open new paths for movement, progress, and development in the face of any limitation.
Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran has never been the initiator of war, Sadegh said the Iranian nation has never started a war, but has valiantly defended its land and interests against aggression and threats. She added that today we must be proud of our powerful armed forces, who have stood with authority against threats.
Alongside the authority of the armed forces, she said, we must also be proud of the Iranian people — a people who, with resilience, solidarity, and steadfastness, have shone in the most difficult conditions and shown that they have always stood by Iran.
Referring to her trip to Khuzestan and Khorramshahr, the minister said she is honored to be visiting Khorramshahr and Khuzestan Province for the fifth time. "Khorramshahr has a right upon Iran, and we are all indebted to this historic city and its resilient people," she stated.
She described the Khaniyan wreck removal operation as an important event in the path of economic and commercial development of the region, calling it a great day for Khorramshahr — the beginning of removing a wreck that has been an obstacle to trade, vessel traffic, and economic activities in the area for years.
With the removal of this wreck, Sadegh continued, the path for developing port activities, increasing vessel traffic, and boosting trade at Khorramshahr Port will be smoothed, and this action can mark the beginning of a new chapter in the region's economy.
Emphasizing the need to revive Khorramshahr Port's capacities, she stated that the prosperity of Khorramshahr Port is the vitality of Iran. "Khorramshahr Port must once again breathe with full capacity, and the prosperity of its activities will show its effects on the region's economy, trade, employment, and people's livelihoods," she added.
In conclusion, the minister expressed hope that with continued development measures, removal of obstacles, and maximum utilization of the region's port and commercial capacities, Khorramshahr Port will once again regain its worthy position in the country's maritime trade, and that we will witness the growing prosperity of this historic port.
