PMO’s MD Visits Imam Khomeini Port, Urges Completion of Logistics Infrastructure and Supply Chain Strengthening

shaken Mohammad Shakibi-Nasab, Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Managing Director of the Ports and Maritime Organization, during a visit to development and investment projects at the Imam Khomeini Port Special Economic Zone, emphasized the need for the swift completion of logistics infrastructure and strengthening the country's essential goods supply chain.

Shakibi-Nasab made this field visit to review the latest progress status of key projects. Expressing satisfaction with the operationalization process of development plans, he announced the final preparations of three infrastructure projects for commissioning in the near future.

At the outset of his remarks, referring to the fact that Imam Khomeini Port is currently operating as a "major construction workshop," he appreciated the tireless efforts of both public sector employees and private sector companies in the special economic zone for advancing construction projects.

Mechanized Grain Terminal

During his visit to the "Second Mechanized Grain Terminal of Imam Khomeini Port," the Managing Director described this project as one of the key pillars in enhancing port operations productivity and accelerating the loading and unloading process of essential goods, deeming its role critical in ensuring the country's food security.

Combining Hardware Development with Software Transformation

Speaking before the council of deputies of the Khuzestan Ports and Maritime Organization, Shakibi-Nasab deemed a purely physical development approach insufficient, stating that increasing physical capacity is only part of the path. "Alongside developing infrastructure, we must focus on software measures and process optimization so that operational bottlenecks can be resolved without requiring large expenditures," he said.

Importance of Arvand Rud Dredging

Referring to the importance of Arvand Rud dredging, he described it as a determining factor in the prosperity of port activities in Khorramshahr and Abadan, emphasizing that it will be pursued.

Investment Opportunities and Regional Economic Development

In another part of his remarks, the Managing Director emphasized the organization's social responsibility toward the province's economic prosperity and called for maximum utilization of existing opportunities. "Port activities must be managed in such a way that the shadow of their economic prosperity extends to the province's body, especially the cities of Abadan and Khorramshahr," he added.

Referring to the high existing potential, he stressed the need to precisely explain investment opportunities in port development lands to national and regional investors. "By creating synergy among all provincial factors and active participation in specialized exhibitions, we must introduce the investment capacities of Khuzestan's ports in the best possible way so that sustainable development is realized in the region," he said.

Respecting Clients as the Main Fortress of Service

In his concluding remarks, Shakibi-Nasab emphasized the importance of observing professional ethics and respecting clients, urging employees to prioritize a client-oriented approach. "We are servants of the people in this economic bastion. Proper conduct and prompt response to clients go beyond an administrative duty — they are an ethical and organizational principle," he stated.

In conclusion, while appreciating the efforts made, Shakibi-Nasab expressed hope that with synergy among the various pillars of the directorate, we will witness the ever-increasing elevation of Khuzestan's ports' standing at the national and international levels.
