Tehran, Feb 8 (MRUD NEWS) – Iran Ministry of Transport and Urban Development is inaugurating more than 600 projects on the 43th anniversary of Islamic Revolution in Iran. The projects are in housing (comprising 102 projects) and transport (comprising 500 projects) in rail, road, aviation, maritime, and meteorology sectors. 

The projects mainly target strengthening Iran's transport diplomacy for increasing transit along North-South and East-West Corridors. So, the projects are to complete the missing links along transit corridors. This includes equipping border terminal at Razi Border. Similarly, at Sarakhs Border, there was agreement which has increased Iran-Turkmenistan transit considerably beating the 50 years records. 

Generally, road transit is experiencing 101 percent and freight transport 3 percent increase compared to the last year.  

In road sector, for freeways out of 6100 km under construction, 4000 km will be operationalized by the next four year and for highways out of 1050 km under construction, 700 km will be inaugurated by the next four year. The average of freeway construction in Iran is 80 km per year which is demonstrating 2.5 times growth in freeway construction and 2 times growth in highway construction.

Iran is predicting participation of private sector in construction of freeways and highways as seen in next year budget. 

In rail transport, Iran is seeking to reach 30 percent increase in freight transport and 20 percent increase in passenger transport.

In aviation sector, 8 new projects in 6 airports have been inaugurated. One achievement in this regard is the design and installation of runway lighting for the first time in Iran. 

In meteorology, 6 Weather Station Projects in 4 provinces were launched. 

Each year in February simultaneous with the anniversary of Islamic Revolution, the Iranian government opens up new projects all across the country.
