Iran, Azerbaijan's economic ties strengthen

Tehran, Feb 13 (MRUD NEWS) – Iran and Azerbaijan held a virtual coordination meeting on February 12 just before Joint Economic Commission to be held in Baku.

In the joint meeting, Iran Minister of Transport and Urban Development, Rostam Ghasemi, and his deputies met Azerbaijan Deputy Prime Minister, Shahin Mustafayev, and his delegation in order to follow up implementation of previous decisions made between Tehran and Baku in different economic spheres. 

The two sides reviewed the agenda for upcoming Joint Economic Commission and discussed the grounds for economic cooperation including industry, energy, pharmaceutical equipment projects, production of tractors and automobile spare parts.  

Specifically, they discussed production of tractors by Tabriz Tractor Manufacturing Company in Aras free Zone, production of automobile spare parts in Neftchala District in Azerbaijan, and pharmaceutical projects in Pirallahi Industrial Park. 

The representatives from 10 to 15 Iranian construction companies will be present in the next Joint Economic Commission for conferring on the reconstruction process in Azerbaijan.

The participation of Iranian companies in reconstruction projects in Karabak will start as the allocation of budget for approved project will be handed over to the Iranian representatives by the end of February.

Moreover, the two sides emphasized on signing the preferential trade agreement during Joint Economic Commission that was previously prepared. 

Previously on January 24, there was a three-day visit of Iran Minister of Transport and Urban Development and his delegation to Azerbaijan through which the two sides agreed on joint infrastructural projects including the agreement for construction of a road bridge over the Astarachay River.
