Tehran, April 17 (MRUD NEWS) - Mianeh-Bostanabad-Tabriz railroad project with the aim of increasing transport productivity and safety is to be inaugurated within three months.

The new railroad project is about 203 km and has 10 stations that decreases travel time by 5 hours and 114 km distance.

The project will save 1.5 billion IRR used for fuel once it is operated for freight transfer.

The project is part of the Trans-Asian Railway (TAR) as a project to create an integrated freight railway network across Europe and Asia. So, it is expected to increase share of Iran in international transport.

The new rail project is expected to increase passenger transport from 1 to 2 million and freight transport from 2 million tons to 7 million tons.

This railway is the first railway which is built double-track from the beginning and also it can be electrified.

Moreover, the inter-city railroad is stretched to the city of Tabriz and is interlinked to the underground and bus stations within the city.

The project is constructed by reliance on domestic technologies including the rail produced in Isfahan steel company and has 6 km valley bridges (including Basmenj Bridges) and 7 km tunnels.

150,000 billion IRR has been spent on this railway project.

Mianeh to Bostanabad railroad had been previously inaugurated in November 2019 in 6 parts with the lengths of 132 km.
