Tehran, June 11 (MRUD NEWS)—During the 3rd session of the taskforce for development and facilitation of transit in this year held on June 7 at the Ministry of Transport and Urban Development, the necessity of integrated freight transit through Iran was emphasized.

In the meeting, the members reviewed the performance of transit in Iran and discussed the solutions to facilitate transit processes.

Considering recent developments and changing demand in the region, Iran is perusing synergy for integrated shipment of freight as top priority.

For facilitation of transit, due to the geopolitical situation and infrastructural facilities of Iran, in each session the taskforce identifies the bottlenecks for further elimination of the problems. 

Specifically this time the taskforce analyzed the challenges related to the quarantine of agricultural and ambiguities posed by the enforcement of the law entitled as 'amending the Law on Combating Commodity and Currency Smuggling'.

Previously, the taskforce for development and facilitation of transit resumed its activities as the 60th meeting was held on 20 April after three years hiatus with presence of representatives from different ministries, organizations, and private sector in Iran.

The Supreme Council of Transport Coordination in Iran had initiated the taskforce in 2013.
