Direct rail shipment of Russian cargo to India through Iran's territory The Russian cargo to India pass directly through Iran's territory in less than three days.

Tehran, December 12 (MRUD NEWS)—The head of Islamic Republic of Iran Railways (RAI), Miad Salehi, informed of direct rail transit of Russian freight to India through Iran's territory since last two months. 
Attending in the Islamic Republic of Iran News Network (IRINN), Miad Salehi added that freights from Northeast of Russia transit to Iran through Sarakhs Border and head to Bandar Abbas. Then the freights transport by ship to India.
The freights pass 1600 km in Iran in less than three days, each time carrying 30 to 50 wagons. 
Freight transit through Iran's territory lasts almost a third of the previous route from Russia to India through the Black Sea.
Iran's Government has prioritized rail diplomacy particularly with the neighboring countries and the Central Asia, Salehi said. 
Pointing to the statistics, Saehi informed of the record of 1,913,000 tons freight transit and 1,919,000 tons exports through rail sector in the last year.
Moreover, the diversity of products is increasing. Including fertilizers, coal freights are also being transited through Iran. 
Tehran and Moscow have been negotiating over increasing rail transit and cooperation over last months as the country aims to attract regional transit. 
The head of RAI and the delegation attended International Coordinating Council on Trans-Eurasian Transportation (CCTT) meeting in Russia upon invitation of the president of Russian Railways.
