Tehran, January 7 (MRUD NEWS)—The general director of the Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO) of Bushehr Province informed of launching the first container shipping line from Bushehr Port in the southwestern of Iran to the UAE's Jebel Ali Port.
This direct shipping line will boost the import and export and decrease the costs of export shipping for traders, Mohammad Shakibi-nasab said.
Bushehr Port's development plan is advancing mainly in Negin Port Complex with more than 91 percent physical progress in its infrastructures.
Negin Port Complex is attracting investments from the private sector and currently four oil companies are requesting to invest in this port.
From March to November 2022, the loading/unloading of freights has increased in this port which for the container freights shows 56 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year.
Bushehr Port area is about 54 hectares and Negin Port Complex is 70 hectares (it can further develop up to 443 hectares). It is part of special economic zone of Bushehr Port.
The nominal capacity of Bushehr Port is 8 million tons.
Last week, the ambassador of UAE in Tehran, Saif Mohammed Al Zaabi, met the managing director of Iran's Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), Ali-Akbar Safaei, and they conferred on strengthening economic and maritime relations.
