Tehran, October 16 (MRUD NEWS)—Iran Minister of Roads and Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, talked with Minister of Transport and Communications of Qatar, Jassim Saif Al Sulaiti, over the phone yesterday and they emphasized on the importance of developing comprehensive bilateral relations, particularly transport relations.
Due to the significance of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the two sides spoke about international summit on INSTC in the near future in Tehran.
In this talk, announcing Iran's support for Qatar's accession to the INSTC agreement, Bazrpash stated that Iran will invite Qatar to participate in the upcoming summit of the International North-South Transport Corridor in Tehran.
In addition, the two sides emphasized on the importance of developing transport and trade and the removal of transit barriers between the two countries.
The two sides, agreed on holding transport and transit follow-up committee and decided to follow up MoUs through monthly phone calls and seasonal meetings in order to establish consistent and regular communications.
Noteworthy, following the tensions in the Middle East, the parties condemned the Zionist regime's attack on the Palestinian land and emphasized on the necessity to support the oppressed Palestinian people.
Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development appreciated the stances of the Emir of Qatar in supporting the oppressed people of Palestine.
In the end, the two parties emphasized on sending greetings to the Presidents of the two countries.
In September 2022, Al-Sulaiti travelled to Iran for bilateral transport negotiations and later in December to attend the funeral of Rostam Ghasemi, Iran's ex-transport minister.
