Iran, Turkmenistan discuss comprehensive relations

17th Iran, Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission Bazrpash as the head of Iran, Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission is heading to Ashgabat on Thursday at the head of a delegation to strengthen bilateral ties.

Tehran, November 16 (MRUD NEWS)—Iran and Turkmenistan high-ranking officials will meet in Ashgabat on November 17-18 to hold the 17th Iran, Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission to promote bilateral relations.

The heads of Iran, Turkmenistan Joint Economic Commission are Iran's Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, and Raşit Meredow, the Deputy Chairman of The Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan and Minister of Foreign Affairs. 

In this visit, Bazrpash will visit the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the General Director of the Transport and Communications Agency, Mammethan Chakiev. 

As with the agenda of the Joint Economic Commission, the two sides will discuss comprehensive cooperation in different fields including commerce, transport and transit, energy, industry, export of engineering and technical services, customs, agriculture, scientific exchange, health, and tourism.

In this sense, they are expected to conclude some MoUs in insurance, free trade, meteorology, tourism, sport, agriculture, and environment.  

Simultaneously on the sideline of the Commission, a joint commercial conference and an exhibition (Iran Project) will be held. 

Previously in May 2023, Bazrpash and Meredow met in Tehran where activation of the 'Ashgabat agreement' for increased transit in the region was discussed and its operational and implementation phases were to be decided during the 17th Joint Economic Commission.
