Afghanistan transits freight to India through Chabahar Port

chabahar port Afghanistan's freights are loaded in Chabahar Port for transit to India.

Tehran, December 16 (MRUD NEWS)—Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Sistan and Baluchistan Province, Qasem Askari-Nasab, informed of loading freight transit from Afghanistan to India through Chabahar Port.

Referring to the capacities and infrastructure of Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar for the transit of export goods from the neighboring countries, Askari-Nasab said: Chabahar Port, as Iran's largest ocean port in the north of Indian Ocean, can bridge the landlocked countries to the Indian Ocean.

Following the field visits of the Afghanistan authorities to the Shahid Beheshti Port in Chabahar and activation of the direct shipping line from this port to the ports of India, now the possibility for freight transit therough this Port is provided, he added. 

He further stated that Chabahar port, as the closest transit route to the CIS countries, has a particular position for exchanges with other countries in the region. The transit freights of the neighboring countries are loaded by the container ships of the Chabahar port to the ports of India, through the Shahid Beheshti port of Chabahar.
