climate system of the Middle East getting more complex due to climate change

ع Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Celeste Saulo, sent a video message to the 7th International Conference on Climate Change held in Tehran on January 29-30.

Tehran, January 30, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—In a video message to the 7th International Conference on Climate Change, Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Celeste Saulo, stated: "the climate system of Iran and the Middle East has become more complex and this is a confirmation of the effects of global warming and climate change".

In the past years, we have seen a significant decrease in rainfall in the Middle East and Iran, which has led to frequent droughts, as well as an unusual increase in temperature and the heat waves, she said.

Since 2022, the World Meteorological Organization, as part of the United Nations coalition in dealing with dust storms, together with its partners in the United Nations and international organizations, is playing a key role in dealing with climate issues around the world, she added.

Currently, the World Meteorological Organization is leading the "Early Warnings for All" initiative, whereby all countries will be covered by early warning by 2027, the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization continued.

Our support to scientists, partners, national hydrological and meteorological organizations in the region enables them to contribute to shaping climate guidelines at all levels, Saulo explained.

We are standing against climate change and inequalities, and the current solutions should be urgent, she added.

The Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization continued: "we should all work together as a family" and wished for the useful discussions and excellent results from this conference.
