Iran, Afghanistan inked MoU for road transport

توافقنامه ایران و افغانستان During the joint meeting of Iran and Afghanistan's offcials in Kabul for international transport and transit, the two sides inked MoU in the presence of the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan and the director-general of Transit and International Transportation Bureau at Iran's RMTO.

Tehran, March 10, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—Javad Hedayati, the director-general of Transit and International Transportation Bureau at Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) met with Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan during his visit to Kabul for holding a joint meeting on international road transport and transit. 

In the meeting, Iran and Afghanistan inked a MoU on road transport. 

Hedayati pointed out the determination of  Islamic Republic of Iran to increase economic relations between the two countries, to strengthen transit corridors, and to complete Herat-Mazar-i-Sharif roads in order to facilitate access to Central Asian countries for other countries in the region.

The director-general of Transit and International Transportation Bureau at RMTO welcomed the decision of Afghanistan's government for using the capacity of Chabahar Port, and informed of the readiness of Iran’s Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization (RMTO) to cooperate and facilitate transit of Afghanistan's freights via logistics chain services in the backshore of Chabahar Port and border terminals. 

In his meeting with Yar Mohammad Ramazan, the Head of Road Transport Laws and Treaties of Afghanistan, Hedayati discussed promotion of bilateral and multilateral ties, mutual reduction of tariffs, unification of costs, and facilitation of freight transit through Iran's territory, and implementation of regulations governing international transport.
