New projects at Mashhad International Airport inaugurated

بذرپاش فرودگاه مشهد With inauguration of three airport projects at Mashhad's Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport, the capacity of the airport will increase to 14 million passengers per year.

Tehran, March 16, 2024—Simultaneous with the visit of the Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, to Razavi Khorasan Province on Friday, three airport projects were inaugurated at Mashhad's Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport. The projects include development of the terminal inside the Airport, development of the apron of the Airport, opening of three passenger boarding bridges and the new instrument landing system (ILS). 

According to Iran Airports and Air Navigation Company, with development of the terminal of Mashhad Airport, 20000 m2 have been added to the internal space of the terminal at Mashhad Airport reaching 57,000 m2. This project has been built for improving quality of services to the pilgrims and passengers in 4 floors with a credit amounting to 13000 billion IRR. With the opening of the terminal development project, the capacity of the airport will increase to 14 million passengers per year.

The project for development of apron with an area of 80,000 m2 will add 15 new positions for airplane parking at Mashhad Airport, which was built with a credit amounting to 2,000 billion IRR. 

Also, in order to improve services to passengers and pilgrims of Imam Reza (pbuh), three boarding bridges for the transfer of passengers with a credit amounting to 630 billion Rials are installed in the internal terminal of Mashhad Airport.

Further, after 26 years of operation, the old ILS at Shahid Hasheminejad International Airport was shut down and a new ILS was installed with a credit amounting to 600 billion IRR. The installation of the new ILS, considering the weather conditions of Mashhad airport, will reduce the delay and make safe landing of flights in fog, dust or rain.
