Accorfing to PMO News Portal, during the session, Shakibinasab emphasized that accelerating the development of logistical and infrastructural facilities in Gilan is an "undeniable necessity" to cement Iran's central position in the North-South trade route and facilitate commerce in the Caspian Sea. He expressed appreciation for the Governor's technical oversight and follow-up efforts, pledging the allocation of necessary funds to upgrade the logistical capacity of the province's ports.
The managing director of the PMO also stressed the urgent need to modernize loading and unloading equipment and complete the communication infrastructure connected to Gilan's ports.
Governor Hadi Haghshenas highlighted that the development of Gilan's ports transcends provincial interests, serving as a critical requirement for sustaining national foreign trade and securing essential goods.
"Today, the Caspian Sea represents an exceptional commercial opportunity," Haghshenas stated. "We are ready to collaborate with the Ports and Maritime Organization to maximize cargo capacity in northern ports and transform Gilan into the primary hub for regional imports and exports."
Key priorities identified by the Governor included: Accelerating dredging operations in Gilan's ports, Streamlining customs processes and encouraging private sector investment in mechanized warehouses and grain silos.
The meeting concluded with a review of major development projects and logistical infrastructure initiatives in the province. Operational solutions were proposed to address obstacles hindering ongoing port projects, and decisive measures were taken to expedite their completion.
