PMO Deputy: Maximum Utilization of Northern Ports' Capacity, Private Sector Participation Essential for Boosting Productivity

Adel Deris headed a delegation to visit Fereydunkenar and Nowshahr ports, closely examining the operational and infrastructural capacities, ongoing activities, and development plans of these ports.

during his visit to Fereydunkenar Port, the Deputy for Port and Economic Affairs reviewed the latest status of activities, port and economic capacities, measures taken, and development plans for this port, emphasizing the need for more effective utilization of existing capacities and strengthening port and economic activities.

Continuing this program, Deris visited Nowshahr Port, touring various operational and infrastructural sectors of this port's special economic zone and familiarizing himself with its capacities, activities, and development plans.

Saeed Kia Kajouri, Director General of Mazandaran Ports and Maritime Directorate, also provided a report during this visit on the trend of cargo handling, operational and economic capacities, measures taken, and upcoming plans for enhancing productivity and developing port and economic activities at Nowshahr Port.

Subsequently, a brainstorming meeting of northern port managers was held with the presence of Adel Deris, directors general of the Ports and Maritime Organization, and managers of northern ports, during which the operational and economic capacities of the ports, strategies for increasing productivity, development of port activities, and requirements for strengthening the role of these ports in the country's transport chain were discussed and exchanged.

In this meeting, Deris, referring to the position of northern ports in the country's maritime transport and trade network, described the optimal use of existing infrastructure and facilities as a fundamental necessity for the development of port and economic activities, stating: "Northern ports possess suitable capacities for development, and with targeted planning, the groundwork should be laid for maximum utilization of these capacities."

He described the facilitation of operational processes and the creation of a suitable platform for the presence and investment of the private sector as requirements for the development of economic activities in northern ports, adding: "Greater utilization of the private sector's capacity can help increase productivity, expand exchanges, and strengthen the role of northern ports in the country's transport chain."

The Deputy for Port and Economic Affairs of the Ports and Maritime Organization emphasized the continuation of measures to enhance the operational capability and improve the productivity of northern ports, stating: "Simultaneous attention to infrastructure, investment, and the requirements of economic activities will pave the way for strengthening the position of northern ports and increasing their share in the country's commercial and transport activities."
