UN-Habitat expands its practices through Tehran Office The UN-Habitat and the National Habitat Committee (NHC) in Iran plan to expand their activities in the neighboring countries of Iran primarily Afghanistan via joint cooperation.

Tehran, November 2 (MRUD NEWS)—The secretary of National Habitat Committee (NHC) in Iran, Arman Khoorsand, informed of expanding the main agendas of UN-Habitat to the neighboring countries primarily Afghanistan as per the agreement with UN-Habitat Officials.
The decision was made during online meetings with the UN-Habitat officials last week where the initial agreement was reached to expand the outreach of UN-Habitat in Afghanistan through Iran, he explained. 
The agreement will be concluded in the form of a MoU during the upcoming visit of UN-Habitat officials to Tehran next month.
Habitat practices in Afghanistan revolve around three main themes of improving human settlements, natural disaster, and education.
The secretary of National Habitat Committee (NHC) in Iran also informed of new projects as part of a 5-year roadmap between the NHC and UN-Habitat.
The National Urban Policy (NUP) is currently finalized in Iran which has been considered as one of the best cases experienced and approved by the UN-Habitat. So, Iran is ready to embark on the second phase of NUP, he  further added.
Previously, during the eleventh session of the World Urban Forum (WUF11) in Poland, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Rostam Ghasemi, met with Maimunah Mohd Sharif, the Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) where they signed a MoU for implementation of joint projects by Iran and the UN-Habitat.
