Iran Transport Performance in 2022

Iran Transport Performance in 2022 Among performance indices, passenger transport through four main modes of transport have had the highest increase compared to the last year.

Tehran, March 28 (MRUD NEWS)—Latest transport performance report published by the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development (MRUD) for eleven months from March 2022 to February 2023 includes major indices in four sectors including maritime, aviation, rail, and road. 

The Maritime Performance in 2022 
The loading/unloading operations at Iran's commercial ports account for 137 million tons during 11 months from March 2022 to February 2023, according to the latest performance report of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development. The index shows one million tons more than the same period in the last year. 
More conspicuously, the container operations with 2,144 TEU shows 11 percent growth and passenger transport through ports had been 16 million that indicates 60 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year. 
Additionally, commercial port throughput had been 276 million tons that is 10 million tons more compared to the last year. The passenger capacity of ports is 25,080 passengers.  

The Aviation Performance in 2022
Four indices in the aviation sector sum up performance during 11 months from March 2022 to February 2023.   
According to this report, while the number of take-offs and landings in domestic flights with 256,000 flights shows 9 percent decrease, the number of take-offs and landings in international flights has increased by 75 percent reaching to 21,000 flights. 
Similarly, the number of passengers in domestic flights with transporting 29,382 people shows 16 percent increase. The figure for the number of passengers in international flights is 2,568 people with 95 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year. 

The Railway Performance in 2022 
27 million passengers have been transported via railway in Iran during 11 months from March 2022 to February 2023. The figure records 42 percent increase compared to the same period in the last year. 
The Freight transport had been 41 million tons and rail transit 1,341 tons in 11 months. 
Moreover, 29 locomotives and 1900 freight wagons have been added to the fleet. 

The Road Performance in 2022
Iran road transport performance shows satisfactory growth in 2022. With 6 million tons more freight transport, 463 million tons freights were transported in the country.  
Passenger transport through road sector shows 23 percent increase amounting to 116 million people.
Road transit has been 8.5 million tons with 0.2 million tons more transit compared to the same period in the last year. 
The number of freight fleets is 400,000 fleets with average age of average age of 19.6 year. 
The number of passenger fleets is 15000 with the average age of 13.5 years. 

Generally, the share of road sector is considerably higher in passenger transport (72%), freight transport (92%), and also freight transit (86%).
