Iran exports technical and engineering services to Syria

وزیر حمل ونقل سوریه After intensive meetings between Iranian and Syrian transport officials, the two sides agreed on expansion of maritime freight transit by 10 million tons a year and export of technical and engineering transport services to Syria by Iran.

Tehran, April 26 (MRUD NEWS)—Following the visit of Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development to Syria, today the Iranian minister met with Syria Minister of Transport, Zouhair Khazim, and Syria Prime Minister, Hussein Arnous, in the second day of the visit. 

Since yesterday, there were intensive meetings including eight bilateral committees that have been held in different fields of cooperation in order to discuss agendas and and finalize the MoUs.

Moreover, yesterday there were meetings with the Iranian and Syrian businessmen and private sector.

During the meetings, the two sides agreed on the increasing maritime freight transport to 10 million tons a year. The cargos carried to Syria by container ships were set to boost by regular shipments and increased capacity. 

In doing so, Bazrpash emphasized on the necessity of completing the port infrastructures in Syria. 

Additionally, according to Khazim, Syria is willing to buy ships from Iran and has concluded some contracts with the Iranian shipbuilders.  

For the rail and aviation cooperation, Syrian Minister of Transport said that there are currently technical and engineering services carried out by Iranian companies especially in repairing rail fleets. Also, Bazrpash emphasized on the possibility of providing aviation technical services, especially aircraft maintenance to Syria. 

Further Hussein Arnous announced Syria's readiness to hand over projects in various fields to Iranian companies and setting up a line of credit.

On tourism, they agreed on transporting 50,000 passengers and pilgrims yearly. 

The two sides also decided on activating free trade zones and decreasing trade tariffs. 

Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development as the head of Iran, Syria Joint Economic Commission, arrived in Damascus yesterday at the head of a high-ranking delegation in order to expand economic ties and facilitate banking and commercial transactions.
