Iran, Syria secure strategic long-term cooperation

سوریه Iran and Syrian Presidents meet in Damascus to finalize MoUs within the framework of comprehensive plan for strategic and long-term cooperation.

Tehran, May 3 (MRUD NEWS)—Following the visit of Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Mehrdad Bazrpash, to Damascus in the last week, today the minister as the head of Iran, Syria Joint Economic Commission accompanies Iran President, Ebrahim Raisi to Syria for a two-day visit at the invitation of Bashar al-Assad. 

The Iranian delegation was welcomed by Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade at the Syria International Airport. Afterwards, the Presidents met in the Syrian Presidential Palace. 

The high-ranking negotiations for strengthening the political relations and expanding commercial cooperation between Iran and Syria will be headed by the Presidents of the two countries.

In the preceding visit of the heads of Iran, Syria Joint Economic Commission, economic and political MoUs were prepared after intensive meetings including eight bilateral committees in order to be signed by the Presidents of Iran and Syria. 

This is the 11th international trip made by Iran President. The last presidential visit to Syria had been 13 years ago. 

The president called Iran, Syria relations as strategic in the region which are to be expanded through "comprehensive plan for strategic and long-term cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic" for securing the interests of the two nations and other nations in the region.

Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development as the head of Iran, Syria Joint Economic Commission, had arrived in Damascus on April 25 at the head of a high-ranking delegation in order to expand economic ties and facilitate banking and commercial transactions.
