Tehran, November 3, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—During the 16th National Conference and Exhibition on Bitumen, Asphalt, and Machinery, Sadegh emphasized the need to integrate knowledge-based capacities to enhance the quality and efficiency of Iran’s roadways, which are crucial to the country's economic development.

Sadegh stated that the conference and exhibition provide a valuable platform for drawing on advanced expertise to improve road infrastructure.

She noted that almost 90% of Iran’s transportation, both freight and passenger, relies on road networks, making maintenance and quality improvements essential to support this extensive demand.

Sadegh underscored that initiatives such as continuous working groups formed after the conference will be influential in driving quality upgrades across the nation’s roadways.

The minister pointed out the need for synergy among government bodies, particularly between ministries and affiliated companies under the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, to enhance the standards of Iran’s transport sector.

She stressed that, by engaging standard certification processes and involving knowledge-based sectors, the country can achieve considerable advancements in road quality and overall transport efficiency.

Sadegh also acknowledged the aging state of Iran’s transport fleet and infrastructure, emphasizing that modernization efforts will be pivotal to maintaining stable national revenue through transit.

She indicated that addressing the wear and tear of the transport network and implementing effective large-scale policies are vital for the country's infrastructure goals.

According to her, road fleet upgrades and infrastructure modernization remain a top priority and will be pursued in coordination with the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade and the Ministry of Petroleum.

The involvement of the private sector, Sadegh added, will be actively promoted to support these modernization efforts through upcoming initiatives and discussions.
