MRUDnews_ The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Mustafayev, has officially invited the Iranian Minister of Roads and Urban Development, to visit Baku from April 8th to 10th. The visit aims to review bilateral agreements, address barriers to joint projects and lay the groundwork for the upcoming visit of H.M. Dr. Pezhakian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Dr. Amin Taraffo, Senior Advisor to H.E. the Minister and Head of the International Affairs at the Ministry of shared details of the, stating that Minister Sadegh will lead a delegation comprising representatives from various government agencies. The focus of the visit will include assessing the progress of agreements under the Joint Economic Commission and holding negotiations to facilitate further collaboration.
The Agenda also includes a review of ongoing joint projects in transport, customs, water and energy, oil and gas, and preferential trade. Necessary measures will be discussed to address issues and advance these initiatives. Additionally, the Iranian delegation will conduct a field visit to joint border infrastructure projects.
Mr. Taraffo also announced the unveiling and signing of the Persian and Azeri versions of the Joint Economic Commission document, initially signed during the commission's February 2024 meeting in Tehran. These versions will be attached to the English version following final approval. Proposals for a new Memorandum on transport and border cooperation will also be presented, with the aim of finalizing it ahead of the Iranian President’s visit to Baku.
The Joint Economic Commission resumed in February 2024 after a three-year hiatus. During the session, Minister Sadegh stressed the importance of leveraging the significant potential for cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the goal of increasing bilateral trade to 10 billion within five years, building on the 2010 billion within five years, resulting on the 20% growth in 2024, which brought trade exchanges to a record.
This visit underscores the mutual commitment of Iran and Azerbaijan to boost economic ties, fostering collaboration and advancing shared regional interests.
