Iran Expands Rimdan Border to Strengthen International Transit and Regional Trade

Tehran, May 11, 2025 (MRUD NEWS)— Iran Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has announced that the Rimdan Border Terminal, located in southeastern Iran near the Pakistan border, will soon be ready to handle goods transit and infrastructure development nears completion.

The Deputy for Transport at the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, Mehdi Khezri, stated that the terminal has been operational since 2019, In 2024, a total of 33,700 Pakistani pilgrims entered the country through this terminal aboard 559 buses from Pakistan.

He emphasized the considerable potential of the Rimdan Terminal in the field of goods transit,“although the terminal currently focuses on the movement of pilgrims, infrastructure for goods transit is under development, and the terminal will soon be capable of handling freight operations,” he said.

Mr. Khezri also underscored In addition, 17 roadside service and welfare complexes have been launched along the 720-kilometer corridor in the southern part of the province, significantly improving travel conditions and services for cross-border movement.
