According to S. Ahmad Hashemian, during the RMTO's Technical and Legal Conference: "Over the past year, the primary and secondary roads of seven provinces, along with all national freeways, have undergone demarcation to establish definitive highway boundaries. The funding required to extend this critical initiative to the remaining provinces will be communicated in the near future."
Mr. Hashemian also stressed that highways are considered a strategic national asset, underscoring: "As stipulated by law, the ownership and governance over roadbeds and highway boundaries rest with the road construction executing agency, while the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization, in its operational capacity, oversees their maintenance and protection."
He further elaborated on the ongoing and planned measures, stating: "Efforts are underway to establish a Road Guard Division, bolstering the capabilities of road maintenance staff and initiating comprehensive highway demarcation activities to enforce boundary regulations from the earliest stages of land acquisition."
Mr. Hashemian also highlighted the role of public participation in safeguarding highway boundaries, adding: "Road users are encouraged to report any encroachments or violations of highway boundaries via the round-the-clock hotline 141 managed by RMTO. Immediate action will be taken to address and rectify such violations."
This initiative represents a pivotal step in formalizing and protecting the nation's road infrastructure, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and preserving these critical components as part of the national assets.
