Iran, Qatar discuss transport agreements

Tehran, Feb 21 (MRUD NEWS) – Following the visit of Iran Minister of Transport and Urban Development, Rostam Ghasemi, to Qatar on February 19 for development of transport and economic relations, Iran and Qatar are discussing 4 agreements in their joint meeting in Doha, informed Ali Akbar Safaie, the Deputy Minister and general-director of Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO).

On Sunday Iran Transport Minister met with Qatar Minister of Transport and Communications, Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, to proceed one agreement in aviation sector, two agreements in port and maritime sectors, and one agreement regarding proposal for construction of an undersea tunnel between Iran and Qatar.

The aforementioned project is a huge connectivity project that stretches from Deyr Port (in Bushehr) to Qatar and will link Qatar to the northern countries, Europe, the countries on the Caspian region, and Southwest Asia.  

The project also includes rail and road modes and will be finalized after holding joint economic commission. 

The two sides are going to launch regular shipping lines between the ports of the two countries and confer on accessing Iran's airspace by Qatari commercial airlines.

The upcoming MoUs to be reached with presence of Iran President and the Emir of Qatar, will considerably influence export and Import between the two countries.

The two sides also discussed commute between Iran and Qatar during the World Cup. 

Iran President, Ebrahim Raisi, is heading to Qatar today for concluding the agreements.
