Tehran, February 5, 2024 (MRUD NEWS)—Concurrent with the 45th anniversary of Islamic Revolution in Iran, 685 rolling stocks, including new and renovated rail fleets, with the value of 33,580 billion IRR, were added to the rail fleet of Iran.
For this purpose, the ceremony for the arrival of the new and renovated fleets is held today with the presence of Mehrdad Bazrpash, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development, Seyyed Kamal Hadian Far, Deputy Transport Minister, and Seyed Miad Salehi, Deputy Minister and CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Railways at Tehran Railway Station.
At this stage, the total number of fleets is 685, of which 645 are new freight wagons, 10 new locomotives, 5 renovated locomotives, 2 new passenger wagons and 23 renovated passenger wagons.
This fleets are all manufactured domestically.
In this ceremony, Iran Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "our main policy is to hand over rail freight fleet to the private sector and rail freight companies by using incentives".
Last year, Iran Railways (RAI) inaugurated 428 domestically-manufactured rolling stocks to its fleet including freight and passenger cars and locomotives to its fleet estimating to 15000 billion IRR.
